The Sierra Institute for Community and Environment, in cooperation with Lassen Volcanic National Park (LAVO), is hiring one Botany Technician Apprentice to work with ecological restoration projects. The work will include tracking and collection of Whitebark Pine (Pinus albicaulis), surveys for invasive plants, restoration of disturbed areas, seeding and seed collection, and preparing additional sites for restoration. The applicant should be capable of hiking up to six miles daily while carrying a pack weighing up to forty pounds.
Crew Leaders for P-CREW youth corps are integral to the success of this program. P-CREW leaders will have the unique opportunity to develop leadership and stewardship skills while supervising and mentoring a youth crew. Additionally, leaders may be offered an option to continue employment following the P-CREW season on Sierra Institute’s trail crew. This unique position was designed to empower P-CREW leaders to deepen their connection to nature, build trusting relationships with support staff, and feel confident developing the next generation of natural resource stewards.
The Field Coordinator for P-CREW youth corps is integral to the success of this program. The Field Coordinator will report directly to the P-CREW Program Coordinator and work closely with all field and office staff. This position will provide critical support with coordination, logistics, and administration of three youth crews. Preseason: Field Coordinator will support P-CREW staff with the hiring process of 33 teenagers including applicant review, reference checks, interviews, and selection process.
The Part-Time Seasonal Land Steward will undertake a variety of tasks related to the management of FLLT nature preserves, from the beginning of May through the end of September, 2022. FLLT is responsible for the ongoing stewardship of 49 nature preserves–totaling 6,415 acres–located across the 12-county Finger Lakes region of New York (not all have trails or other public access improvements). The Part-Time Seasonal Land Steward will spend the majority of their time in the field doing physical work at many different nature preserves.
The Finance Manager’s primary duties are to perform financial tracking and financial reporting functions for Maine Farmland Trust, to create new organizational capacity for receiving and implementing large federal grant awards. The Finance Manager will track grant expenses and analyze financial data needed for completing grant reports, invoices and proposals, in addition to other general finance responsibilities in support of the broader organization.
