Volunteer Coordinator, Maryland Environmental Trust
Volunteer Coordinator needed to assist the Maryland Environmental Trust (MET) with its mission to conserve and maintain Maryland’s natural, agricultural, scenic, and cultural resources for future generations, while also inspiring and engaging the public to take responsibility of the state’s natural resources. Volunteers for MET serve as land stewards, visiting beautiful, natural, historic, and culturally rich properties protected with conservation easements. They document land use by photographing property features, such as waterways, woodlands, farm fields, and buildings, and complete digital reports to ensure that properties are managed in accordance with the terms of their easement. The volunteer visits help to foster and maintain effective relationships with the landowners of easement properties and other protected lands e.g., county and state natural resource areas. The Volunteer Maryland AmeriCorps Member, will primarily recruit, manage, coordinate, and train volunteers and will also host and schedule educational seminars for volunteers and landowners on natural resource improvement programs for conserved land. Assistance will also be provided to Local Land Trust (LLT) partners for recruitment and joint training of volunteers.
