Executive Director, New York Agricultural Land Trust
The Executive Director of NYALT is responsible to focus on three challenging areas: coordination, management, and education and outreach. The position is part-time, approximately 20-25 hours per week and the salary of $40-50 per hour is commensurate with experience. The successful candidate must be comfortable working and coordinating with landowners, partners, the Board of Directors, and ultimately with the grantor, New York State. The candidate must develop an understanding of the entire process of farmland conservation and be able to articulate how the land trust program works to farmers, the general public, policy makers, local governments, and other partners. An agricultural background would be preferred. Strong management, people skills, and attention to details are extremely important. Qualified candidates must be able to conduct education and outreach, which includes communicating with conservation-minded landowners and like-minded individuals through the use of e-news, website updates, annual reports, and coordination with other land trust organizations.
