Ecological Resources Coordinator, Athens - Clarke County Unified Government
The Ecological Resources Coordinator works to promote sustainable stewardship of natural areas across Athens-Clarke County by leading a stewardship planning and implementation process for the Unified Government—the second largest property owner in Clarke County. Responsibilities fall into 4 major categories: Facilitating the Creation and Implementation of a Community Vision; Coalition and Partnership building, and Community Engagement; Interpretation and Technical Expertise; and Administrative Responsibilities.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: developing and coordinating the implementation of long-term stewardship plans for conservation properties; coordinating Land Conservation Program acquisitions and easements; administering and/or facilitating associated volunteer, education/interpretation activities and programs related to ecological and land-based historical and cultural resources; identifying, managing, and supplementing the internal and external resources available for program management; working cooperatively across the Unified Government and throughout the community; assisting the Sustainability Office with the implementation of long-term goals; and completing other duties as assigned. This position utilizes a broad range of knowledge, skills, and abilities that cross several disciplines. Thus, it is not expected that a candidate will be proficient in all areas. During employment both, self-initiated and employer-provided training is available to help employees achieve the proficiency and expertise needed in areas where they are deficient. A desire and willingness to learn is critical to this position.
Job Related Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm; routine evening, weekend, and some holiday work require to meet seasonal needs and goals/mission of the unit/job. May be required to work on evenings, weekends or holidays. Must work cooperatively with others and have a demonstrated history of building community coalitions. Must be able plan, coordinate, and implement initiatives, programs, and projects, including all levels of logistics. Regular and predictable attendance is required.
