Conservation Planner/Project Manager, Peconic Land Trust

Peconic Land Trust, Incorporated is a not-for-profit organization with the mission of conserving Long Island’s working farms, natural lands, and heritage for our communities now and in the future. Our Planning Department is looking for a Project Manager to facilitate conservation projects. Candidates will:
- Coordinate all aspects of projects with other team members and legal counsel as needed
- Cultivate new conservation projects
- Conduct in-person meetings with landowners to learn about their goals and needs
- Evaluate site features and conditions, current land uses, and conservation values as related to project selection criteria for each property being considered for conservation
- Educate landowners about conservation tools and which ones would be applicable to their situation
- Create and maintain project proformas including exit strategies and projections
- Develop and foster relationships with public officials and partner with local, county, state, and federal entities
- Read title reports and surveys
- Navigate legislative code regarding permitted uses and zoning
- Identify funding opportunities for conservation projects
- Write, submit, and manage grant proposals
- Perform all other duties as assigned
