Conservation Director, Spartanburg Area Conservancy
Qualifications: Experience in Conservation, Land Trusts, Conservation Easements. Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Spartanburg Area Conservancy (SPACE) is seeking to hire a Conservation Director. This individual will lead our conservation program, provide independent oversight, and research potential fee-simple or easement projects. This role will cooperate with the executive director to help manage our conservation program focusing on easements monitoring, land development, water quality protection, and other issues. Candidates must possess the ability to operate independently and be well organized and flexible. Candidates should have excellent written and communications skills and work well in a team setting. Must understand current Microsoft software and Google Suite. GIS proficiency is a plus. This position is full-time and based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Candidates will report directly to the Executive Director and work with the Board of Directors.
About SPACE: Formed in 1989, SPACE is located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and is the second-oldest local land trust operating in the state. Approximately 85% of our support comes from the local community. Every dollar contributed to SPACE goes back into our mission to: promote, protect, and preserve natural resources and open spaces in our community. We are a non-profit organization with a volunteer Board of Trustees. Our small, professional staff works closely with local landowners to identify and protect significant lands. Each piece of property is unique, and so is each protection strategy utilized by the landowner and SPACE.
