American Timberlands Company, is a vertically integrated holistic land investment management firm organized for the purpose of originating and managing forestland investments with diverse attributes and value-adding opportunities. ATC’s clients, partners, and investors recognize that, with the right management expertise, low risk land investments can yield higher returns than ordinary timberland investments.

We are a regional watershed organization serving the Cumberland River basin which is 18,000 square miles with nearly 3 million residents. Our programs seek to reduce pollution in urban, suburban and agricultural settings, restore connectivity by removing aquatic barriers and educate residents of the basin. Most recently we are developing a compensatory mitigation in lieu fee program. This program will require us to hold and monitor conservation easements at our stream restoration sites.

Since its founding in 1976, the Company has followed a disciplined and value-oriented approach to investing in forestland and rural real estate in the U.S. and Canada.

The West Virginia Land Stewardship Corporation is a special-purpose public nonprofit created to facilitate the redevelopment of former commercial, industrial, and mining properties with environmental issues in order to promote property reuse and sustainable economic development in West Virginia. We are authorized by statute to operate a Voluntary Land Stewardship Program and take on both short- and long-term monitoring and maintenance of sites that have been remediated pursuant to a state or federal environmental program.
