About The Award

One of the NPR show's most popular segments is the e-chievement award. Listeners from around the country send in tales of remarkable individuals who are working hard to make a positive difference in their communities and beyond. From massive river clean-ups to programs that help the homeless, from neighborhood environmental activists to national social and environmental organizations, we take pride in celebrating the success stories of ordinary citizens accomplishing extraordinary things.

About Jane And The Legacy Land Trust

Jane is the founder of the Legacy Land Trust, a nonprofit land conservation effort which works with local landowners to conserve and protect key agricultural, natural, and scenic lands of northern Colorado. The public benefits of private land conservation include the ongoing protection of the beauty of open landscapes (provided by farmers and ranchers), ecosystem services (provided by nature), community pride and livability, and potential for reliable local food supplies. Since their start, they have conserved 40,000 acres.
