Celebrate Earth Month with us!
In the buildup to Earth Day on April 22, people around the country will contemplate their role in fighting seemingly daunting environmental challenges, including climate change, the extinction crisis, habitat fragmentation and environmental injustice.
Instead of advocating for more individual sacrifice, join us in spreading optimism! Collectively, land trusts are making an incredible impact — with almost 60 million acres conserved over the past 40 years and an ambitious goal to conserve the same amount of land over the next 10 years.
Throughout April, you can help the Land Trust Alliance spread the word that individuals can make a positive difference for the planet by taking simple and rewarding actions like visiting their local land trust, volunteering, advocating for land conservation and donating in support of land conservation.
Our message is simple: Supporting land conservation is good for you, good for your community and good for the planet.
There are plenty of ways your last trust can get involved in the celebration! First, please submit your activities to our national Earth Month Directory. Then, join in on our weekly themes:
April 5-11: Visit a Land Trust
- Share messaging on what land trusts are and how they make a difference.
- Share the Find a Land Trust website or your property map.
- Encourage people to get outside in safe, healthy ways, such as hiking, picnicking or birding.
April 12-18: Volunteer
- Share messages about the collective impact of land trust volunteers.
- Showcase the different ways people can volunteer for your land trust, including in-person and skills-based opportunities.
April 19-23: Advocate
- Attend the Alliance's Advocacy Days and participate in our annual issue briefing, first timers' advocacy training and congressional meetings.
- Join our thunderclap on social media and consider asking your audience to as well!
- Share information about how federal funding for conservation helps landowners and local communities.
April 26-30: Donate
- Build on the excitement of the month to drive donations.
Along the way, we'll share blog posts, sample language and graphics you can use.
See you this Earth Month!
