The Southeast Program is teaming up with the Open Space Institute to bring two climate change workshops to our region! Mark your calendars and plan to join us for either session:
Blacksburg, Virginia | February 24
Virginia Tech | 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Knoxville, Tennessee | March 24
Ijams Nature Center | 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Staff, board members or teams of both are encouraged to attend either full-day, hands-on workshop designed to give you the tools you need to incorporate climate resilience into your land protection work. Each session will feature the challenges and opportunities in addressing climate change, a demo and exercise in using map-based data, presentations by land trust practitioners working on climate projects, networking with other land trusts from the region and more.
Land trusts who attend the workshop will be eligible to apply for 40 hours of circuit rider assistance with their own climate resilient conservation planning. Two land trusts will be selected to receive this support in spring 2017.
Space is limited (the Blacksburg session in particular is filling quickly!). To register or if you have any questions, please email us or call 919-827-0023.
