Just like other nonprofits, a land trust’s greatest assets are the paid and volunteer staff who make our work possible. Though at first glance, the concept may seem unremarkable, the implications are important. In order for our organizations to be successful, the people we work with must be successful. Therefore effective supervision contributes directly to organizational mission effectiveness.
Strong supervision creates a culture of mutual respect in which employees – paid or volunteer - and supervisors communicate regularly and clearly about job-related expectations, tasks and overall performance.
Webinar participants will:
- Identify the nuts and bolts of positive supervision
- Consider the skills required of effective supervisors:
- Be adaptive
- Communicate clearly and often
- Provide regular feedback
- Develop a personalized plan to strengthen supervision in your land trust.
