In Review: 2012 Southeast Regional Land Conservation Conference

SE Conference 2012 Web Header

For three days, and with the help of the St. Simons Land Trust, the community brought out all its charms for the attendees of the Southeast Conference, from the Spanish moss draping its trees to the fresh oysters plucked from salty marshes. Inside our conference rooms we had:

  • Over 225 land conservation practitioners, board members, partners and professionals
  • Representation from all 12 states in the Southeast region
  • 14 intense seminars, packed with information and practical steps
  • Productive partner meetings with state associations and affiliations

The conference was capped off with a relaxing Oyster Roast on a perfect spring evening, on the peninsula that overlooks the beautiful marshes of Glynn.

“There were three reasons why I am glad I went. First, there was no down time - there were continuous programs throughout the two days - no golf tournaments or shopping opportunities. Second, all the sessions were extremely well presented and were information dense - I filled several pages of my notebook. Third, I met some wonderful people and learned a great deal from them - a truly dedicated group. Putting these three things together, this was among the best, most informative, and most satisfying meetings I have ever attended.”

– Larry Tombaugh, Triangle Land Conservancy
