AUSTIN, TX -- After an extensive search, the Texas Land Trust Council Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Susan Armstrong will join the staff as Executive Director beginning April 13, 2009. An amazingly qualified and accomplished candidate, Ms. Armstrong brings great understanding, valuable experience and a wonderful skill set to TLTC. Prior to joining the staff of the Texas Land Trust Council, Ms. Armstrong served as the Executive Director of Connemara Conservancy Foundation from February 2006 through March 2009.
Ms. Armstrong’s previous professional experience has included working as an Associate in the Environmental Division at the international law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP and as an Assistant Attorney General in the Natural Resource Division at the Attorney General's Office in Austin. Ms. Armstrong received her JD at Tulane Law School in New Orleans, LA, concentrating in Environmental Law and received her B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in Environment Resource Management. In 2006, she created and taught "Tools for Open Space Preservation" for upper-level students at the University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Armstrong is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Texas Land Trust Council and a founding member of the national Young Conservation Professionals Steering Committee.
The Board of Directors is confident that Ms. Armstrong will lead TLTC through a period of growth and will actively advance our mission to promote and sustain the conservation efforts of land trusts across the state.
Tommi Ferguson, who has served for the last year and a half as the Interim Executive Director, will be leaving TLTC this summer as a result of her family relocating to Chicago. The Board of Directors wishes Tommi every success and happiness in the Windy City!
