Loop Year: 365 Days on the Trail

Loop YearThis book is a nonfiction account of a project where the author hiked and cared for the same two-mile trail on a Northern Connecticut Land Trust property in Somers, CT, every day for a year. Loop Year focuses on environmental issues from a progressive viewpoint. The project was honored with a Connecticut Green Circle Award for environmental activism.

The book is also funny and entertaining, with captivating real-life characters, an unexpected love story, and a really cute dog.

Author John Sheirer is a member of the Northern Connecticut Land Trust and professor at Asnuntuck Community College.

Fundraising Opportunity for Land Trusts

Proceeds from the book will help support land preservation. In a nutshell, the folks at PublishingWorks, the book's publisher, are proposing that the book could be purchased by individual land trusts for the discounted price of $10 per copy and then resold for the cover price of $15.95, with the remaining $5.95 per copy being retained by the land trust itself.

The best part of the opportunity is that the books could be ordered from the publisher without pre-paying. If your organization orders thirty books for an event but only sells twenty, you can pay for the twenty and return the remaining ten to the publisher. You only pay the postage for sending the books back. (Or you could hang onto the books and sell them at a future event.)
