Make This a Million Message Month for America's Great Outdoors!

Advocates Alert: September 23, 2010

For six months we've asked you to attend listening sessions, vote for ideas, and spread the word about America's Great Outdoors -- and because of all your hard work, we're confident this initiative will include tools that land trusts need to succeed.  So today we're asking you to do one last thing before the comment period wraps up this month: ask your members and supporters to give this initiative the momentum it needs by sending supportive comments to the Administration.  A flood of messages will show them that land conservation is an issue Americans care about -- so they'll invest political capital in it over the next two years!

Sample e-mail to send to your supporters:

Tell President Obama to Conserve the Places You Love!

Thousands of land trust supporters have spoken out as part of the America's Great Outdoors Initiative this summer -- sharing creative ideas for the next generation of incentives to keep farm, ranch and forest lands in productive use, protect important fish and wildlife habitat, and conserve our scenic and historic heritage.

Now it's your turn to be heard!  It takes just a few moments to send the Administration a message that land conservation is an issue that matters to you:

Send your message at: http://tinyurl.com/AGOemail

Please customize the e-mail with your comments.  Even if you've already posted or voted for ideas, a simple message of support today will give this initiative the momentum it needs to inspire bold and urgent action to protect our land, water and history for the generations to come!

Next, please forward this email to your friends and learn more about America's Great Outdoors at: www.lta.org/greatoutdoors.

Thanks for helping!

July 17: The House just voted 277-130 to pass the charities package! 56 Democrats joined their Republican colleagues to support charitable giving incentives, including the enhanced easement incentive - the second-highest number of defections after the research and development tax credit. Several others spoke on the floor in support of the conservation easement incentive, and other favorable charitable incentives. Thank you to organizations like Ducks Unlimited, CSF and others that reached out to Congressional offices over the last few days or alerted their membership of this important vote. Now, we pivot to the Senate.
