Grants
The following summarizes the funds MCPI is investing directly to advance the collective conservation goals of the Maine coast.
Implementation Grants
Implementation Grants provide support for organizations that implement the strategies in the Framework, particularly related to goal 1 and goal 3, which focus on Conserved Lands and Funding and Public Support. Nearly $163,00 has been awarded of the full $220,000 available for Implementation Grants. Grant details.
Capacity-Building Grants
Capacity-building grants are intended to advance goal 2, to help land trusts move to a higher level of organizational or programmatic capacity so they can dramatically increase the pace of land conservation along Maine’s coast. Eligibility for this type of grant is restricted to land trusts. The MCPI anticipates that there will be a total of $350,000 available to support two sets of capacity building grant programs, one directed toward strategy 2.1 and one directed toward strategy 2.2 of the MCPI Strategic Conservation Framework. Grant details.
GIS Grants
This grant program supports projects that create and enhance the capacity needed to address the GIS needs of Maine’s coastal land trust community as identified in the MCPI GIS Needs Assessment. Grant details.
See Project Activities or download the MCPI Strategic Conservation Framework (PDF) for more details on the strategies supported by these grants.
