Funding Easement Stewardship

January 2009

This course will focus on how land trusts design and use dedicated stewardship funds to meet their long-term easement stewardship responsibilities. It is designed for land trust staff, volunteers, and board members who are planning for the long-term financial support of their land trusts’ easement stewardship program. Participants will have the opportunity to have their land trust’s stewardship funding policies reviewed by an expert.

Drafting Easements for Perpetuity

May 2009

This course will give participants an overview of how to draft conservation easements to stand the test of time. Participants will learn the important principles underlying easement drafting, the essential preliminary steps in the process, and the stewardship implications of easement restrictions. Take your easement drafting to the next level!

Preparing for Perpetuity: Building Your Board

October 2009

In this course, participants will focus on one of the most dynamic and fundamental aspects of board governance facing land trusts: building and sustaining an effective board of directors. You will learn tactics for identifying, recruiting and sustaining the board of directors most appropriate for your land trust. You will also have the opportunity to create board member and board development committee job descriptions, mini work plans for orientation and training and a work plan for board development tailored to your land trust.
