This online course will focus on one of the most dynamic and fundamental aspects of board governance issues facing land trust boards: building and sustaining an effective board of directors. You will learn tactics for identifying, recruiting and sustaining the board of directors most appropriate for your land trust. You will also have the opportunity to create board member and board development committee job descriptions, mini work plans for orientation and training and a work plan for board development tailored to your land trust.
The course is designed for board members, volunteer leaders, staff and others directly involved in the leadership functions of board governance. The session will focus in particular on the details that board members should consider as part of their leadership role.
This course is based on the Land Trust Alliance course “Land Trust Boards: Preparing for Perpetuity.” Participants will take part in weekly presentations delivered via the Web and online discussions held in a private online meeting space on The Learning Center, the Land Trust Alliance online learning center.
