Land trusts are not limited by the number of people who want to support us. We're limited by our ability to ask. For most land trusts, the year-end appeal is our best (if only) chance to ask those who love us to be generous in their support. So getting the year-end appeal right is critical. But it shouldn't be the only time the organization thinks about how to ask and how to bring support from individuals into the organization. This session will look at the full spectrum of annual giving, and how to look at acquisition mailings, renewals, special appeals and other giving requests to make the most of them. When complete, an organization should be able to start piecing together a strong and more comprehensive strategy for making appeals -- including the year-end appeal -- as effective as possible.
