We all know strategic planning is good for land trusts. But, did you know that planning is also a great way to leverage other important priorities such as fundraising and community engagement? The old maxim “It you want my money, ask my advice” means that to build strong relationships with donors, it’s crucial to offer authentic ways to ask for advice. Planning provides the most honest and important means to gauge your funders’ priorities. Likewise, it is a great way to engage your community to get a clear sense of their needs and how you can help meet them.

This webinar will focus on how land trusts can make the most of the strategic planning process. Participants will explore:

  1. The basic steps in a strategic planning process
  2. How to select a planning approach that meets your goals
  3. Strategies for leveraging your planning process and final plan to increase impact and value
  4. How to strengthen relationships with their key insiders, donors, and the broader community through strategic planning
