Land Trust Alliance Announces 2009 Conservation Partnership Program Grants!

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Land Trust Alliance (Alliance) joined members of the state Legislature and land trust representatives today to announce more than $1.4 million in Conservation Partnership Program grants.

Gretchen Long member of the Land Trust Alliance's National Board of Directors commented, "Today I attended the press conference in Albany to announce and celebrate the $1.4 million in funding for the NYS Conservation Partnership Program, a partnership with the Land Trust Alliance. The program is a compelling example of how to leverage dollars for maximum impact. This morning's announcement was a living moment of the oft spoken value of private/public partnerships, and what can be accomplished through productive collaboration. It was a remarkable morning in the land conservation community and a day to be proud of."

A total of $1,417,500 in grants will be awarded through the Conservation Partnership Program to help local not-for-profits sustain critical programs. The funding will help create land trust jobs, strengthen key partnerships with local and state governments, and support programming that advances farm and watershed protection and other community projects across the state.
