New Online Tool

Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands has launched a new online tool to help everyone discover Maine's great state parks, public lands and historic sites!

This new feature allows you to search by activity, facility or region; or try the "single-tank trips" feature and go on a gas-saving adventure by finding a destination in your neck of the woods.

Downloadable maps and brochures are available for select locations or use the "print this page" feature for a printer-friendly brochure.

About the Northeast Region

The seven Northeast states of New England and New York are the birthplace of land conservation in this country.  Home to 35% of the country’s nearly 1,700 land trusts, the Northeast represents great tradition and accomplishment among land trusts of all shapes and sizes in the region.  As of 2005, national, state, and local conservation groups saved 8.5 million acres in the Northeast, over 12% of the region’s total land area.  Learn more about the Northeast >>

How We Help

The Land Trust Alliance works with land trusts and local communities throughout the Northeast to provide a host of tools, training, support and inspiration to ensure their success in protecting the air we breathe, water we drink and food we eat.

Funding for Land Trusts

  • Connecticut Land Trust Challenge Fund--in partnership with the Connecticut Land Conservation Council (CLCC), the Fund provides resources for eligible Connecticut land trusts to secure consultant-led services that support implementation of Land Trust Standards & Practices.
  • Connecticut Land Trust Excellence Program--in partnership with the Connecticut Land Conservation Council (CLCC), the Excellence Program focuses on supporting and advancing the operation quality and sustainability of land trusts in Connecticut as measured by comprehensive implementation of Land Trust Standards and Practices.
  • Maine Land Trust Excellence Program--in partnership with Maine Coast Heritage Trust, the Excellence Program provides funding for 20 qualified land trusts in Maine to support implementation of Land Trust Standards & Practices and preparation for land trust accreditation.
  • New York State Conservation Partnership Program--provides grants to help qualified New York land trust's prepare for land trust accreditation and pursue projects that that will build professional capacity, strengthen community partnerships, accelerate the pace of land conservation, and enable implementation of best business practices (Land Trust Standards & Practices).

State Level Policy and Advocacy

  • New York Policy Program--information on the New York State Conservation Easement Tax Credit and other initiatives impacting land conservation in New York State.
