2008 Guided Organizational Assessments
Request for Applications: 2008 Guided Organizational Assessments
Available to all New York Land Trust that have formally adopted Land Trust Standards and Practices, if your land trust is seeking a highly effective tool for identifying areas for improvement, if you are interested in a comprehensive self-evaluation of your organization's business practices, or if you are considering Accreditation, a Guided Organizational Assessment can be a critical step in your success.
Using Land Trust Alliance-trained assessors who are experienced non-profit consultants, the Alliance is offering Guided Organizational Assessments on a competitive basis to New York land trusts. Selected land trusts will employ the Assessing Your Organization (AYO) process, developed by the Land Trust Alliance for land trusts across the country, to lead a step-by-step analysis of your organization's progress in implementing Land Trust Standards and Practices. In addition to an onsite, facilitated assessment and final report, the assessment process will include professional consultation to help your land trust develop a work plan for implementing priority recommendations.
This technical assistance initiative is made possible through the New York State Conservation Partnership Program, administered by the Land Trust Alliance in coordination with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. The Alliance is offering a limited number of assessments on a competitive, cost-share basis. While a typical guided assessment may cost $3,500. Through a special technical assistance initiative, the Alliance is offering up to five (5) guided organizational assessments, as well as additional consultation and mentoring, at a discounted cost of $500 per land trust. (The Alliance will cover the rest of the assessment cost.)
Arrangements for land trusts selected to receive the Guided Organizational Assessments must be finalized before December 31, 2008. The assessments themselves should be completed no later than April 1, 2009. Applications deadline is September 5, 2008.
