Wisconsin’s Land Trust Excellence and Advancement Program (LEAP): Now Accepting Applications for Universal Services and Small Grants

Applications due: LEAP day, of course!  February 29, 2012

Program Description

LEAP’s overall goals include helping Wisconsin land trusts define their own path to excellence, and then pursue that with Gathering Waters Conservancy (GWC) and Land Trust Alliance (Alliance) support.  Through the Land Trust Excellence & Advancement Program (LEAP), we are pleased to offer services to the Wisconsin land trust community for independent projects on a competitive basis.  This application for Universal Services is due on LEAP day.

Universal Services are available to all Wisconsin land trusts, sometimes on a competitive basis and sometimes not. Non-competitive services include trainings and regional collaboration gatherings. Universal Services that are competitive include those offered here and our Peer-to-Peer mentoring program.

The Universal Services Program complements the intensive suite of Customized Services Program currently underway with nine of your fellow Wisconsin Land Trusts. Land trusts in the customized program are preparing for accreditation; working toward implementing all Land Trust Standards and Practices; or seeing their organizations through a tough transition period.

This application for Universal Services and Small Grants serves to allow all Wisconsin land trusts to apply for a variety of services from LEAP:

  • A Guided Standards and Practices Assessment
  • Mentoring project
  • Small Grant

This Universal Services Program is intended to provide an opportunity for your land trust to accomplish a high priority task for your organization.  What is one hurdle holding you back from excellence? Let’s LEAP over that hurdle together and move your land trust forward.
