Appraisal Institutions
The Alliance is pleased to work with the appraisal groups listed below to promote two different courses for appraisers and others to get in-depth instruction on dealing with one of the most controversial and scrutinized topics in valuation.
Valuation of Conservation Easements, offered by the Appraisal Institute, is an intense, advanced level educational endeavor designed for general certified appraisers who understand the methodology in the approaches to value and are ready to embark on understanding the intricacies involved in an often misunderstood and difficult type of appraisal.

Valuation of Conservation Easements and Other Partial Interests in Real Estate, offered by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and the American Society of Appraisers, is a hands-on, how-to 3-day seminar addressing the generally accepted principles and procedures to value partial interests (not fractional ownership interests, but something less than the fee bundle of rights). The seminar provides an overview of the differences between conservation easements prepared under USPAP, UASFLA/Yellow Book and IRS requirements – and their application to partial estate valuations. Other partial interest examples and case studies encompass highway right-of-ways, power lines, pipelines and navigation easements that demonstrate how to solve complex valuation problems and report their results.
