Executive Director, The Georgian Bay Land Trust

Reports to: President, Board of Directors The GBLT is seeking a dynamic and energetic leader with a strong interest in conservation. The Executive Director serves as the face of the GBLT and will help lead the organization to the next level. Responsibilities Collaborate with the President and the Board to set the strategic direction of the organization and lead the development and oversight of annual plans, budgets and program plans to support the successful achievement of long term goals and the GBLT’s 20 year vision Regularly review the progress of the vision, strategic plan, program plans and annual operating plans to ensure successful achievement of goals and targets Monitor the external marketplace to take advantage of new opportunities for the organization Lead the organization in developing, managing and supporting partnerships with like‐minded organizations, community groups and agencies Work with staff to develop and maintain enduring relationships with key volunteers and supporters Serve as a spokesperson for the organization, with the objective to raise awareness of the organization and its work Work with the Board and staff to develop and maintain a base of support to ensure the longterm stability of the organization and its operations and take a leadership role in fundraising and financial management and monitoring Manage the GBLT’s various programs, taking a leadership role in the land protection program, supporting staff to meet long‐term and annual goals Build, manage, support, and lead a cohesive team of staff that works together to implement the programs and priority activities of the organization as defined by the Strategic and Annual Operating Plans Skills and Aptitudes Five to ten years experience as a manager, preferably in a not‐for‐profit environment, with a solid understanding of land conservation; A minimum of an undergraduate or college degree in environmental studies/science, business administration, non‐profit management or related field Effective strategic management and leadership skills; A proven capacity for strategic and operational planning Experience in successful fundraising; Effective policy and program development Financial management experience; Strong communication and consultation skills, one‐on‐one and with groups; An ability to build effective relationships with volunteers, staff, partners, and the general public; An ability to develop trust and to connect with stakeholders to build long lasting relationships; Strong presentation skills, both verbal and written, including an ability to inspire and persuade. An ability to be highly motivated, creative and a self‐starter. A competitive salary is being offered and compensation will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s strengths and experience. The position is based out of the GBLT’s office in Toronto, Ontario, with frequent travel during the summer months to the eastern shores of Georgian Bay and the North Channel.
