Lancaster Farmland Trust Preserves 300th Farm!

September 10, 2008 | Strasburg, PA

On September 10, 2008, the Lancaster Farmland Trust preserved its 300th farm. The 39 acre farm is part of a 2,800 acre block of preserved farmland. It is scheduled to be sold at public auction on September 20th.

The owner of the property, Frances Shaub, donated the conservation easement to protect her property because it is an important part of her family's history. Mrs. Shaub and her late husband, Howard, owned the property for over 50 years and raised 5 children together. It was Howard's wish to preserve the farm and she wanted to make his wish come true. The property is currently rented out to a neighbor who grows tomatoes and soybeans.

Since its beginning in 1988, Lancaster Farmland Trust has preserved 300 farms and 19,045 acres of Lancaster County farmland. Visit www.lancasterfarmlandtrust.org
