Budget Deal Passes in House, Senate up Next
The budget deal by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) passed last night in the House and is now in the Senate for consideration. This will allow the appropriations committees to set the spending levels for specific programs to avert another shutdown by January 15. The Alliance is working with partners to ensure that conservation programs receive their fair share.
Charitable Deduction Gains Key Support
We recently sent letters thanking Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and John Thune (R-SD) for their letter defending the charitable deduction from caps proposed for other deductions as part of tax reform. The charitable deduction is crucial to land trust work. Use this opportunity to thank the senators with a quick call or note.
